A collection of links to newspaper articles written about our hiking.

Pacific Crest Trail

Word of our PCT trek  made the local news. A couple of the local newspapers have published articles. We also were interviewed by the local programming TV station (CTV30) . The interview was shown multiple times for 2 weeks. The interview was only 15 minutes long, but was a lot of fun.

We have also given presentations at a local REI store, Sunrise Mountain Sports, and local libraries. The response has been pretty good.

Continental Divide Trail

We had a couple more articles after our CDT hike. And a few presentations in the local library. We weren't home long before we left for the AT.

Appalachian Trail

We gave only two presentations on our AT hike. The first audience was mostly friends who had seen presentations on the PCT and CDT. The second presentation was to Troop 911, the Boy Scout troop where Ken got started hiking. They also had seen presentations on the PCT and CDT.

Triple Crown Hikes

Word has spread pretty quickly about our finishing the Triple Crown. Most people want to hear about all three hikes rather than the AT. We are doing presentations for the Sierra Club, REI, Sunrise Mountaineering, local classrooms, of course at the library, and other places.

Here are the newspaper articles written about our Triple Crown achievements. We also got a commendation from the local city council!

American Discovery Trail

Film clip of our Today Show appearance from Pt Reyes on the morning of 10/15/2005.

(Quicktime format)

Two articles were written when we finished the American Discovery Trail that caught the imagination of the world. We were overwhelmed with comments, emails, and responses to articles written by Martin Griffith of the Associated Press and David Charter for the London Times. It seems the AP article was picked up by newspapers nationwide and the London Times article was translated into many languages and printed worldwide.

    Associated Press article

An earlier version of the article was published when we left Carson City, NV.

    London Times article

A Slovenian Translation (I think) added to the fun.

Several other news articles were written based on these 2 articles, our web site, and our trail journals.
