We
started this hike thinking it was a 4.5 mile out-and-back hike. After almost 4
miles out we decided we didn't have enough time to complete the whole hike. We
read the trail guide and discovered it was 4.5 miles in one direction. We
turned around. We'll be back again for this hike when we have more time.
The hike
is along a paved trail among nice houses from Lafayette to Moraga. There were
lots of other hikers, joggers, and bikers. We even found a baby bird along the
trail.

We
went back to this trail and allowed more time. We hiked from Olympic Staging
Area to the Valle Vista Staging Area. Then turned around to hike home. We ran
out of time and took a shortcut at the end. But this was a one-way hike, so we
completed it.
At the halfway point of the trail we saw 3 does and 2 fawns
right along the roadway. They were not affected by the cars whizzing by them.
And they were still under the same trees when we returned a couple hours later.
At
almost the same place we saw a bear. Ok, it was carved out of a tree stump, but
it looked good. Good day for wildlife - 5 deer and a bear.
