We
parked in the shady streets of Lafayette and started on the Briones to Las
Trampas Trail toward the Lafayette Ridge. The trail starts as a paved pathway
along Las Trampas Creek, crosses Mt Diablo Blvd, then crosses under highway 24
and BART.
After a
short walk along the freeway we climbed steeply up the hill on a trail almost obscured
with grasses. We had several short sections of steps and 3 bridges to cross as
the trail climbed the hill. Near the top we followed what looks like a fire road
to the top and met the Lafayette Ridge Trail. The view of Mt Diablo was a bit
hazy.
Along
the trail we saw butterflies, small birds and flowers among the oaks.
