This trail was a 50 minute walk along fire roads in the oak
covered hills. We hiked up a gentle valley along Alhambra Creek in the shade
of the oak trees. This was the perfect hiking season because the trees
were leafed out, the grass was still green and flowers were blooming.
Near the end of the
valley we turned east to climb to the top of the hills. There we found Diablo
View Trail with, you should have guessed, a good view of Mt Diablo across the
valley. There were some really nice large oaks all along the trail.
After our hike we
stopped at the picnic area for lunch. We had to chase a couple of squirrels
from the picnic table before we could eat.
We
didn't see many birds, but we saw long lizard that looked like a snake with
legs. Marcia jumped when she almost stepped on it. We will have to look it up
somewhere to see what it was.
